This collaboration has led to the development of an innovative production solution, supported by the advanced expertise of SolidWorld, culminating in a first success case that demonstrates the effectiveness of such technologies for the intended applications.
As announced during the IPO phase, iVision Tech is pursuing the social initiative iSee to develop glasses equipped with assistive technology, designed to improve the perception and understanding of the surrounding environment for visually impaired individuals, offering users greater autonomy and security.
With integrated expertise from design to production, iVision oversees every stage of the value chain for the iSee project and, thanks to the collaboration with SolidWorld, has adopted cutting-edge solutions that enable prototype and final productions using the latest generation of SLS (Selective Laser Sintering) printing technology, supported by post-processing processes developed internally by iVision Tech and implemented in the production phase.
By optimizing printing density and powder recyclability, the plant represents a sustainable and environmentally friendly process, significantly reducing waste and optimizing cost per part. This approach meets the specific needs of future users and technological requirements, allowing iVision to explore new production possibilities.
Federico Fulchir, Project Manager of iVision Tech’s iSee project, stated: “The partnership with SolidWorld has created a combination of know-how that has allowed us to make a significant step forward in the realization of the iSee device. Thanks to the introduced technologies, we can say that we have completed the entire value chain in creating the technological glasses. From electronics to mechanics, iVision Tech is fully equipped to enter the assistive technologies market. Numerous tests carried out and the increasing presence of these materials at industry fairs confirm that integrating technology into the supply chain not only perfectly suits the purpose but is also applicable to the traditional eyewear business. Thanks to iVision Tech’s R&D, we have also been able to implement innovative production methods and practices for the 3D printing sector.”.
Stefano Fulchir, CEO of iVision Tech, declared: “One of the key aspects that convinced us to use SolidWorld’s 3D printing solutions is the ability to scale the plant in response to future commercial opportunities, thus keeping production ready to support sustainable growth. Additionally, we are very satisfied with the product developed, which has achieved an aesthetic equivalent to that of glasses for sighted individuals, leveraging the lightweight, ductility, and robustness properties of the new materials used. “.
Roberto Rizzo, President and CEO of SolidWorld Group, stated: “This best-in-class technology allows us to reach new levels of productivity, reliability, and precision, offering scalable solutions for complex 3D prints that require a level of customization difficult to achieve with traditional manufacturing but possible with ‘additive’ manufacturing, which produces highly precise products by adding layer by layer of high-quality biocompatible material that is resistant, lightweight, flexible, and stable.”
