SolidWorld Group invests in new 3D microfabrication technologies to enhance industrial competitiveness

Energy Group, a SolidWorld Group company, introduces five high-precision 3D printing systems to Italy, opening new opportunities in the fields of microfabrication and advanced manufacturing.

Treviso, October 9th, 2025 SolidWorld Group S.p.A., listed on Euronext Growth Milan (ticker: S3D), is an Italian technology group, leader in the integration of advanced 3D digital solutions and artificial intelligence, for the industrial, biomedical and defence sectors, announces a new strategic investment aimed at strengthening its competitiveness and expanding its presence in the Italian market.

Through its subsidiary Energy Group, the company has acquired five 3D microfabrication systems manufactured by Boston Micro Fabrication (BMF), a U.S.-based company globally recognized for its ability to produce microscale components with previously unattainable precision.

These new technologies enable the production of extremely small and complex components, achieving detail levels down to a few thousandths of a millimeter. This breakthrough opens the door to new applications in highly specialized sectors such as electronics, microfluidics, precision micromechanics, RF & microwave engineering, and biopharmaceutical research, where accuracy is a decisive factor.

A particularly promising area is precision micromechanics, which requires mechanical microstructures of exceptional definition—such as those used in digital devices or advanced engineering components. Until now, conventional additive manufacturing technologies have been unable to meet the tolerances required for such applications; the new BMF solutions bridge this gap, allowing the creation of elements on the scale of a few microns with flawless surface quality. With a maximum build volume of up to 10 × 10 × 7.5 centimeters, the systems can produce dozens of microstructured components in a single session, unlocking new possibilities for research centres and universities to experiment, develop innovative solutions, and advance cutting-edge expertise in the field of microfabrication.

Energy Group also becomes the exclusive distributor for Italy of BMF solutions, strengthening its partnership with the U.S. manufacturer and introducing, for the first time in the Italian market, a technology already regarded as transformative on a global scale.

With this operation, SolidWorld Group positions itself among the first players in Europe capable of offering 3D printing solutions on a micrometric scale, combining precision, speed, and production flexibility.

The adoption of these new printers has already attracted the interest of leading companies in the electronics sector, with which the Group is exploring potential synergies and collaborations. The capabilities offered by this technology pave the way for new market opportunities and projects in segments previously beyond the reach of 3D printing, further strengthening SolidWorld Group’s competitive positioning.

“This investment confirms our engagement in anticipating technological evolution and keeping SolidWorld Group at the forefront of industrial innovation,” said Roberto Rizzo, President and CEO of SolidWorld Group.
“With the new BMF printers, we can offer Italian companies a level of precision and detail that was previously unattainable, opening opportunities once limited to major research centres or highly specialized industries. This step reinforces our leadership and reflects our confidence in innovation as a driver of sustainable growth.”

With this investment, SolidWorld Group reaffirms its commitment in strengthening Italy’s advanced manufacturing ecosystem.

The integration of BMF solutions marks a new milestone in the Group’s path toward an increasingly efficient, innovative, and future-oriented production model.
